  • Centro-basket team named

    The Barbados Senior women's team, for the Centro-basket tournament being held in Morovis Puerto Rico, has been named. Again the team will be led by Jamila Griffith, the professional who is plying her trade in Switzerland. Prolific Station Hill Cavs forward, Astrid Alleyne returns after missing out on the last year's Caribbean Basketball Confederation tournament. It is at this tournament that the Bajan women qualified for this Centrobasket tournament. The team has three (3) rookies, in schoolgirl Richelle Farley, Senators point guard Tracy Austin, Kera Bretney who is currently on scholarship at Eastern Wyoming College. Other members of the team include Sade Clarke, Denise Alleyne, Jennifer Joseph-Hackett, Irecka Louis, Shakira Shorey, Ria Phillips and Toni Atherley who will join the team from the California. The team will be coached by National Sports Council coach Frederick Bynoe and he will be assisted by Charles Arthur, the trainer is Dennis Callender and the team is being managed by Secretary of the BABA Rosalind Davis. The team departs for Puerto Rico on 15th July 2008 for the tournament which starts on 17th July and finishes 21st July 2008....read more
