The Third division is the lowest level of the men’s basketball tier. In 2005, it is comprised of twenty-five teams, split across two zones. The first zone is the Errol Rock/Leroy Williams (RW) Zone and is comprised of the following teams:- Combine Faith, Pharmaceuticals Plus Mayhill, Lumber Company Lakers, Stansfield Scott Patriots, R L Seale Team Heineken A, British American Insurance Jackson, Challengers, Nation Nico DC United, Checker Hall Braves, Ready Mix Stars, Kelsi’s Cougars A, Station Hill Cavaliers A and Richard Sealy’s United Falcons. The second zone is the Aubrey Grant/Robin Garnes (GG) Zone and is comprised of the following teams:- Playfair Warriors, Wotton Wolverines, Kings Park United Homeseekers, R L Seale Team Heineken B, Senators, Newbury, PCW Pinelands, Fordeane Construction Mavericks, Station Hill Cavaliers B, Solar Dynamics Clapham Bulls, Family First St John’s Sonics and Kelsi’s Cougars B. Generally their games are played at the YMCA or at the various community courts. A maximum of 2 teams will be promoted to the Intermediate Division. To be eligible for promotion, teams must have reached the semi-final stage of the League competition. Teams will be promoted in the order of their placing in the League, if only one space is taken from the final list and both semi-finalists are eligible for promotion, there will be a best of 3 series between them. If the club of the team that wins the Third Division does not have a team in the Intermediate Division it will be automatically promoted to the Intermediate Division. In this instance the next eligible team that made it to at least the semifinal stage of the Third Division will play a best of 3 series against the team eligible for demotion from the Intermediate Division. In the event that the club that wins the Third Division already has a team competing in the Intermediate Division then only one team will be eligible for promotion to the Intermediate Division. That team will be the next eligible team in the Third Division that made it to at least the semifinal stage, playing a best of 3 series against the team eligible for demotion from the Intermediate Division. Please note that if the losing semifinalists are both eligible for promotion they will have to play a best of 3 series to determine which team will go forward to play against the Intermediate team eligible for demotion. In 2004 Solar Dynamics Clapham Bulls won the League Tournament, however, Less Frills Grazettes Nets has been promoted to the Intermediate Division. Since Solar Dynamics Clapham Bulls already have a team in the Intermediate Division, there was a best of three series between the losing semi-finalists, PCW Pinelands and Checker Hall Braves. PCW Pinelands won in three games and have been promoted. 2005 Honour Roll: Most Valuable Player - Dwight Rouse (Columbian Emeralds Int’l Senators) Best Offensive Player - Julian Walcott (Patriots) Best Defensive Player - Dwight Rouse (Columbian Emeralds Int’l Senators) |
